All Access: Canelo vs. Lara – Episode 1 (Video)

http://youtu.be/L3A-Ultujhg
The outcome to this fight will probably has some of the biggest implications in boxing for years to come. Canelo will be taking on  the most feared man in his division in Erislandy Lara. A loss will probably knock Canelo out of being a Pay Per View star but a win would probably put him back in the running for a rematch with Mayweather or a fight with Miguel Cotto.

Martinez Vs Cotto Predictions

This Saturday we have possibly one of the biggest bouts of the year in Sergio Martinez Vs Miguel Cotto. The implications of this fight can change the whole scale in multiple weight divisions. If Cotto can pull off the upset (which it is) this leads to opportunities to fight Mayweather, Canelo, or pretty much anyone else on a major scale. If Martinez wins he has the option of retiring as one of the greatest, fighting GGG, or even rematching Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The biggest factor coming into this fight is what condition Martinez is in. He’s had multiple major injuries in the last few years and in his last fight against Murray it’s evident that these injuries are catching up with him. If Martinez comes in into this fight at anything less than 80% percent it will be a long night.

Martinez style based off of having the athletic ability to move around the ring and catch his opponents off guard. If Martinez cannot do this throughout the fight I believe Cotto is a live dog who will break Martinez down round by round. Cotto has a lot on the line. A victory leads to him making history as the first Puerto Rican to win titles in 4 different weight divisions. A loss could possibly end his career or know him out of relevancy. You could argue and say that Cotto has lost the majority of his big fights and losing another one could possibly take him out the game.
In the end I think Martinez will stop Cotto in the 10th round. This is all under the impression that Martinez is at least 80% coming into this fight. I just believe he is the bigger man, the bigger punch, and when in the right shape and condition he’s the more active fighter. He’s also shown the heart of when he’s been put down to get back up and still win the fight. I will say that Cotto has looked impressive in his last fight, seems to be in great shape, and seems to get back to what made him successful now that he’s training with Freddie Roach.
Prediction
Martinez by stoppage in the 10th round.

NBA Finals Predictions

NBA Finals Predictions
The NBA Finals are back around and once again we have a rematch of last year’s NBA Finals. The Spurs & Heat are back in the finals again this year and the Spurs are back with vengeance. Throughout the playoffs the Heat probably had it a lot easier than the Spurs. The Heat went through the Bobcats, Nets, & Pacers who all had major deficiencies coming into the playoffs. The Bobcats showed they still need more help and Al Jefferson suffered a nagging injury early in the playoffs. The Nets have been wishy washy throughout the season. With KG looking like he belongs in the senior tour and Paul Pierce who’s no longer equipped to guard elite wing players there wasn’t much that the Nets had to stop the Heat. Then in the Eastern Conference Finals you had an Indiana Pacers team who must have lost their magic shoes or something. Hibbert played to the quality of bench player, inconsistent play, turning the ball over constantly, and a lack of strong point guard play all were a part of the Pacers downfall. All of this made for a less than challenging path to the finals. The Spurs on the other hand went through the monsters of the West. They edged out a veteran Dallas Mavericks team, ran through a very live Portland Trailblazers team, and closed out the always dangerous Oklahoma City Thunder.
One thing that has really impressed me in regards to the Spurs is the adjustments they have made throughout the playoffs. I’ve seen solid games from players like Cory Joseph, Patty Mills, Boris Diaw, etc. These are guys who if they were on other teams wouldn’t be receiving much playing time. Due to Popovich understanding his team and understanding the situation he’s plugged these role players into the game where they would be most effective and proved to be a vital cog in winning close games. Honestly, Pop is easily one of the greatest coaches of this era. In a close out game without their star point guard in the 2nd half they still were able to close out the Thunder due to making the correct adjustments on the floor. That’s been the most impressive thing I’ve seen from the Spurs throughout the playoffs.

One thing I’ve noticed about Miami has been their execution on both offense and defense. While I don’t think Spoelstra is the same quality coach as Popavich the Heat have improved since the playoffs have started. I have to give credit to the Heat for limiting Wade’s minutes throughout the season because now he’s been playing up to the caliber that most people know him for. With the Heat having their big 3 playing well and guys like Ray Allen, Mario Chalmers, and Norris Cole hitting their shots it will be very hard to stop the Heat.

I do think this series will be extremely close and I think this series will really speak on the quality coach Erik Spoelstra really is. Will he make the adjustments needed to keep up with the Spurs? The Spurs are known for throwing out a variety of different looks and switching up the matchups to where it will cause a disruption in the Heat’s flow. Will we finally see Greg Oden in to help slow down Tim Duncan? Will the Heat play small ball and push the pace? We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Overall, I think the Heat can pull off another championship only if Spoelstra doesn’t play it stubborn and makes the adjustments he needs to make to keep up with the Spurs. I think Wade is in a lot better shape this year than he was last year, I think Lebron has added more to his game, and the X-Factor of Ray Allen will be too much. Also, we have to keep an eye on Tony Parker’s injury. While I don’t think it’s that major we don’t know if he can re agitate that injury and I think the Heat are too much for the Spurs to do it without him.
Heat in 7 games.

24/7 Martinez Vs Cotto – Episode 1 (Video)

For you guys who don’t know this is one of the most highly anticipated boxing fights this year. Sergio Martinez has been the kingpin of his division and he’ll be facing against Miguel Cotto which I’m sure most boxing fans know. If Sergio seems to be at least 80% (due to his various injuries over the years) I think he’ll cruise through Cotto but if not Cotto has a great chance to beating Martinez.

TBS – Adrien Broner Post Fight Interview

For one he knows damn well it won’t be possible to fight Manny. The second thing they made sure to put him in the ring with a guy who’s not all that dangerous and yet this dude is talking like he did something. They might have to up the competition for Broner in his next fight.

Floyd Mayweather Jr Vs Marcos Maidana Predictions

Floyd Mayweather Vs Marcos Maidana PPV Predictions

Tonight we have one of the biggest events of the year in Mayweather Vs Maidana. Floyd’s returning to the ring after back to back shut out victories over Robert Guerrero and Canelo Alvarez while Marcos Maidana is coming off an upset victory over Adrien Broner. A lot of people predict the fight will be a shut out but with Maidana’s power he could possibly shift the fight to his advantage. With Mayweather getting up in age we never know when age will catch up to him.
Personally, I think Floyd is in line for another shut out fighting Maidana. I think Maidana will have a better fight then probably both Guerrero & Canelo but I don’t think Maidana is simply skilled enough to fight Floyd effectively for 12 rounds. I could see Maidana stealing 2-3 rounds at the most but Floyd’s ring generalship is something that Maidana has yet to see.
Even in the Maidana-Broner fight I didn’t truly see Broner get dominated badly. Broner didn’t use any footwork, came straight forward at Maidana, and Maidana still couldn’t put Broner out for the count. I felt in certain rounds when Broner let his hands go and actual threw punches he made a pretty decent fight out of it. I think Floyd has the skills to where he’s going to do all of this and with better defense on top of all that. While I don’t think this is the same Maidana that lost to Khan since he’s improved dramatically since that fight I simply don’t think he has enough skills to keep up with Mayweather. I think Maidana will make the fight interesting but he’s going to lose this fight. I have Mayweather winning this fight by unanimous decision with possibly a knockdown in the middle rounds by Mayweather.

Undercard Predictions

Also, I have Khan and Broner winning both of their bouts tomorrow night even though I am rooting for Collazo to win the fight against Khan. I just think if Khan plays it smart he’ll win the fight and with Broner I think he’s simply too big for this guy and will mow him down like he did guys at the lighter weights he was at previously before jumping up to welterweight.
