Fresh on the heels of his vibrant release “PULL UP!”, Mississippi-bred MC Willie D. Tha Kang is back with another single that shows off his range. This go around its much more heartfelt, with the rapper bring ing arguably his most personal bars yet. Titled “Say Less”, the record acts as a venting session of sorts as Willie D. Tha Kang rings off rhymes about some of the things that trouble him. Family, relationships turned sour and more all get addressed before ultimately being pushed aside in recognition of the blessings that have been bestowed his way. Rounding out the single is an appearance from the artist’s daughter Kingsley Tha Kang, who also appears on the single’s artwork. Its been a while since we’ve heard new sounds from Willie D. Tha Kang. After dealing with some legal issues and shifting his focus to his “II Cocky” clothing line the MC returns today. Energy is one word to best describe his comeback from hiatus with the lively persona he brings on “PULL UP!”. The Jackson, Mississippi native has typically given us a laid-back feel stylistically as evident on past releases like the “Free Sample” EP but that shifts here. With Y.L. Hippie making a guest appearance they both craft a joint that is ready for all your summer activities. This may be the first time you’ve heard from Willie D. Willie D. Tha Kang is back with new sounds this week as he releases his latest single “Weigh It Is” featuring Merc Boy C. On this new record we get to hear Tha Kang and his signature laid-back rhyme style document the hustle. He lets us know both the benefits and potential pitfalls that the fast-life can bring but also makes it clear it’s a risk he is willing to take to keep his pockets in good shape. The track is a pretty catchy one without being overly aggressive in it’s attempt to catch the listener. This seemingly effortless style is becoming a true trademark for Willie D. as he continues his ascent of the region’s indie ladder.
