Baton Rouge, Louisiana emcee Marcel P. Black presents “#FreeBLKPPL”, the new J-Filly produced single from Seven, his new album featuring MegaRan and Victoria Cross. Supastition, Substantial, Tef Poe, and Mr. Franklin a.k.a Kamikaze from Crooked Lettaz appeared on his 2016 album Cry Freedom (Bandcamp), and Marcel’s name has appeared on XXL.com’s list of “12 Baton Rouge Rappers You Should Know” as well as HipHopDX.com’s “Up Next By DX” list. A husband, father, activist and youth development worker, Marcel has organized benefits for National World Aids Day, raised money for the children of Alton Sterling, and regularly speaks on panels and lecturing on the intersection between social justice and Hip-Hop in collegiate and high school classrooms. Marcel says his new single is about “the toxic relationship between Black people and freedom in Amerikkka. It’s about the fear I feel as a father under 45’s regime, as well as the decolonization of the African mind and ending the Slave and Master relationship dynamic between whites and the colony of African America.” |
Emmy award-winning Oklahoma City rapper Jabee presents the Kidd B-directed music video for “Rick Ross Wingstop”, the Sebastian Ouhnascis-produced single from Jabee’s new EP Selfie. Jabee’s Black Future album featured Chuck D, Brother Ali and Killer Mike, and Murs’ 3:16 label released Jabee’s 2013 release Everything Was Beautiful And Nothing Hurt. Jabee was already one of URB Magazine’s Next 1000 when his DJ Vadim-produced Blood Is The New Blackmixtape dropped in 2008. His Must Be Nice mixtape collaboration with Terry Urban and Mick Boogie featured Green Lantern, 9th Wonder, Blu and Oddisee. His 2011 Lucky Me mixtape clocked 40,000 downloads. Jabee contributed a track to the official Boondocks Season 3 mixtape, and won an Emmy for his writing and performance in a commercial for Science Museum Oklahoma (watch). Jabee was a vocal and focal point for a leading role in the new NIKE x Kevin Durant commercial “The Baddest”. In 2014 Jabee was invited to Shade 45 in NYC to be featured and interviewed by Sway of “Sway in The Morning” (watch). Chuck D of Public Enemy says “Jabee’s music has the potential to change the world.” When asked about the meaning behind his new single, Jabee said “If I were to ever see Rick Ross in one of his wingstops , I’d rap my ass off.” Jabee will perform September 17 at the Paid Dues Festival, opening for Lil Wayne and Jay Electronica.

We are debuting the new video from Marcel P Black called “My Mind” featuring down-south legend Mr. Franklin aka Kamikaze of Crooked Lettaz and it’s off Marcel’s latest album “Cry Freedom”. The record “My Mind” samples a classic Cee-Lo Green line in the hook from the hit song Cell Therapy off Goodie Mob’s debut album Soul Food. Just like the rest of Marcel’s album this song is a reflection of the current status we are living in America and with some much doubt and confusion this record is encouraging those to let their minds be “curious” and “free” even when the “system” or society doesn’t truly approve or understand it.
