New Album: Prince Hood "Appreciated" (EP)

A native of East Flatbush, Brooklyn Prince Hood is a product of hardworking parents who instilled work ethic as well as values in him. The influence of his neighborhood and things that he saw at an early age are realities that he walks with until this very day.  His demeanor has always been very reserve, yes his presence and impact felt as he is indeed a selfless individual who values team work and paying forward blessings.  Getting his start on the managerial side of things, after his sports dream deferred, Prince Hood began as a booking agent, and general manager of a burgeoning imprint, Afro Productions. Getting his feet wet he would learn about demographics, nightlife, recording, promotion and most importantly artist development.   As a student at Mount Ida College, he would team with Sa Dubble and Brainstorm – artist and rising executive respectively.

“Sa Dubble and Brainstorm opened my eyes to studio life and recording songs.  Brainstorm ended up being the son of the Force MDs manager Rob Franklin. Brainstorm was being mentored by hip-hop hit maker, Young Lord and had his own Label.”

Adding to his responsibilities and skill set, Prince hood would become a hype man for Sa Dubble in addition to booking shows in the Boston and surrounding college markets.  He too would hit the stage at open mics to hone his craft as he began to catch the artist bug. After graduation he would intern for Ray Daniels and Drahma Magazine. With this in place, he was officially in the music industry.

“The opportunity with Ray Daniels and the team helped me learn the importance of media relations.”

The next chapter in his journey would be that of working with a new label, 456,, home to a number of talents including high school friend Hi$tory Inda Makin, known then as Pretty Boy.  With 456, Prince Hood became the in house producer and also helped out on song arrangement and hook writing.   Over time he and Hi$tory’s chemistry would grow and when the imprint disbanded, the perfect opportunity presented itself for the two to form H Squared.

Known for their talent and lingo, the crew patented the term “swave” and began their empire – Swavorland Entertainment. In May 2010 they would release their collective debut, The Introduction Of… ” hosted by DJ Don Demarco,.  Their sophomore effort, The Year of The Swave featured production by Prince Hood on 16 out of 19 tracks on the album.

To date H Squared has been bestowed upon them the honor of Best Rap duo by the Underground Music Awards.  As a label they have assisted in the development of label-mates Punch Loc and Crooner/Lyricist G.G Adonis who is now known as Briel.

2017 has seen the release of Prince Hood’s “MixtapeISH” which features “Swave on It” with Hi$tory and longtime collaborator Bajan Sparrow (produced by Hit maker, Jahlil Beats.)   Prince Hood has brought summer 2018 in with the release of his new body of work  Appreciated which is currently available on all major platforms.
